Cricket

The local green has a sports pavilion and well kept playing field which regularly hosts visiting cricket teams.


 

Fishing

The local area offers excellent opportunities for a variety of fresh water angling. Day permits are available for the Gosfield Lake Resort (see above) and also at the Fennes Estate (see map) which can be found just a couple of miles from the village. This has three excellent stocked lakes together with tackle and bait shop on site.

Also there is good carp fishing to be had at the lakes in the conservation area within the village, application for annual permits for these lakes can be obtained from the local Newsagents in Church Street. For those more committed fishermen , application can be made to Billericay Angling Club, this club has numerous lakes and river sites around the local area. Full membership for this club is approx’ £50.00/anum,

Walking

There are numerous opportunities for walkers around the village, these being a mixture of public footpaths, conservation areas, community woodlands and

forestry commission woodland. Details can be found on the page of Places to Visit within the Parish.

Tennis

There are tennis courts within the village, these can be found just as you are leaving the village on the left hand side of the road at the point where "The Street" becomes the "Braintree Road".

Amateur Radio

Those interested in the hobby of Amateur Radio have, if required, an excellent local radio club. Braintree & District Amateur Radio Society meet twice a month, 1st and 3rd Monday evening from 20.00hrs at The Clubhouse, Braintree Hockey Club, Church Street, Bocking. The clubs last special event station was held at the Bocking Windmill, this was part of the national Windmill and Water Mill week-end, when most of the old mills were open at some stage to the public
