Gosfield Goose Trail of 1500
life size painted and decorated geese takes place during the weekend of
Sept 5th & 6th from 10 am — 6 pm and follows the same successful format
as the scarecrow trails which raised approx £60,000 for local charities.
(even with atrocious weather last year, almost £8,000 was raised.)
This new event celebrates
'Gosfield from Goose Field', the name derived from the days when geese
stopped here overnight as they were herded from Norwich to the London
markets.
We are proud to be included in
'The Summer of Art' brochure, which lists 14 Art Trails throughout
Essex, and our event has been supported by grants from Greenfield's
Community Housing, Arts in Essex, Braintree District Council Halstead
local committee, and sponsored by many local companies.
The replica geese have been
manufactured in Peterborough and the first batch have been transported
back to Halstead by Brooks Transport, one of many local companies
willing to help. St Margaret's School has taken delivery of the first
262.
Come and walk round the lovely
village of Gosfield and marvel at the wonderful creations that will have
wandered into St Catherine's Church and almost every garden, but don't
forget the massive flocks hosted by each of the 3 village schools.
Parking is free, well sign posted, and supported by a shuttle bus
service also serving as park and ride. Get on and off the buses all day
for a small adult donation.
This healthy, low cost, all
day fun for the family, event, will keep children occupied with the new,
cash prize, competitions in the programme at £2, with extra competition
booklets at 50p each.
If you enjoyed the
scarecrows, come and see the geese .... you won't be disappointed |
